Contributes to more people reaching sustainability targets
Many business players have big sustainability ambitions to be achieved by 2030. But without enough capacity in the power grid, both business growth and electrification come to a halt.
- If you are going to electrify operations and phase out fossil energy consumption, capacity in the power grid is a key to making this happen. Batteries can be one of the technologies that can help us reach the sustainability goals in time, she says.
Strupstad explains that they are extra satisfied with the business model, which makes it possible for more people to use the service.
- Our business model is the key. Not everyone has the capital to buy a battery themselves, or the expertise to manage it. We give everyone an opportunity to use the technology, in a flexible and simple way.
Reduces the power load
Peak Shaper is Norway's first commercial battery service for large-scale batteries, and already today offers its services to the whole of Norway. The company behind the service is Eidsiva, which is Norway's largest regional energy and telecoms company.
- If you can reduce the power load during the highest hour of the day, you can save on grid rent by installing a battery. At the same time, you free up capacity for other things, explains the manager.
One of the main reasons why she wants to work with Peak Shaper is the importance of the energy system in our society.
- Energy a key component for our entire society. Participating in change and finding new solutions that bring the world forward and create a greener society for our children, that is my motivation, she says.
